ourBRIDGE supports the refugee and immigrant community by offering a one-of-a-kind enrichment program for newly arrived and 1st generation American children. We advocate for the success, happiness and fair treatment of their families as they acculturate to a new life in the United States.

 

We are looking to fill several positions: Drivers, Lead Tutor, Tutors and Tutor Assistants.

ourBRIDGE staff is essential in maintaining children safety, happiness, and learning. Staff will be responsible for demonstrating and cultivating LERD (Love, Education, Respect, Diversity) values at all times.

  • Ability to speak one or more languages other than English is strongly preferred
  • Have a passion for supporting newly arrived families and students succeed
  • Be an advocate for Charlotte’s refugee and immigrant families
  • Be flexible, creative, organized, reliable, positive and energetic
  • Manage personal professionalism standards including dress code, communication (language, emails, etc), and accurate and punctual timesheet submission.
  • Participate in professional development, performance review procedures, and staff meetings.
  • Build relationships with staff, students, families, and community members.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings during fundraisers, community events and field trips with the students.

 

Afterschool Driver

Part-Time

Drivers will ensure the safe and timely transportation of students between school, ourBRIDGE, home, and occasional field trips.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive students between school, ourBRIDGE, home, and occasional field trips.
  • Ensure student safety through clear expectations, consistent supervision, and positive behavior management.
  • Build relationships with staff, students, and families.
  • Participate in professional development, performance review procedures, and staff meetings.
  • Manage personal professionalism standards including dress, communication (language, emails, etc), and accurate and punctual timesheet submission.
  • Complete and submit accurate student attendance data daily via Frontsheets.

Specific Qualifications and Skills

  • Current, valid driver license required
  • Clean driving record required (in all states)
  • Experience driving 15-passenger vehicles is preferred

Hours: M-F 2:30-7:30 (we follow CMS calendar) + Occasional weekend hours

Job Type: Part-Time, 20-25 hours/week

Assistant Tutors

Part-Time

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support Lead Tutors in curriculum implementation
  • Support Lead Tutors in daily implementation of Welcome Meetings and Closing Circles.
  • Responsible for successful and timely meal service daily (dinner, snack)
  • Support student safety through clear expectations, consistent supervision, and positive behavior management.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of their assigned room.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Family members of ourBRIDGE students and newly-arrived members of the refugee and immigrant communities are encouraged to apply (Basic English skills preferred)

 

Job Type: Part-Time, 20-22 hours/week

Afterschool Lead Tutors

Part-Time

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure proper curriculum implementation and meeting the goals of each unit
  • Lead Welcome Meetings and Closing Circles.
  • Ensure successful and timely meal service daily (dinner, snack)
  • Ensure student safety through clear expectations, consistent supervision, and positive behavior management.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of their assigned room.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Positive, can-do attitude!
  • Demostrable ability to lead a team of four people
  • Ability to create a center culture that is based in Love and Respect.
  • ESL teaching and planning experience preferred
  • Excellent ability to complete administrative duties (taking attendance, keeping records, documenting behavior improvements, communicating effectively with a team)
